Dr Arun Vangili
After completing his M.B.B.S., he chose to train in M.D ( Psychiatry ) in order to pursue his passion of understanding the workings of the human mind and to help people suffering from psychiatric disorders. After an academic stint of 3 yrs at Institute of Mental Health Chennai affiliated to Madras Medical College , he was selected on merit for the prestigious Post Doctoral Fellowship programme in the premier psychiatric institute of our country, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS) Bangalore.
He strives to combine this extensive experience and the latest medical information in order to provide world class care for persons with mental health problems and their families.
In clinical practice, she works exclusively with children, adolescents (0-18 years) and their families. She specialises in diagnosis and treatment of psychological, behavioural and developmental disorders affecting this population.
She provides psychotherapy, medication management and parental guidance.
She strives to ensure that holistic interventions are provided with attention to the psychological, biological, social and environmental factors and to keep the child on the developmental trajectory.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
She pursued her M.B.B.S training at Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s Medical College, Mumbai. Her keen desire to serve and insightful understanding of people fuelled her desire to pursue Psychiatry as a career choice. Shestudied her M.D. Psychiatry at Madras Medical College, Chennai. During this period, she discovered herinclination and love for working with children and youth with mental health concerns. This led her to write a competitive national level examination in which she stood first andwent on to pursue D.M (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore.
Understanding of psychiatric disorders has grown dramatically over the past few decades with new paradigms and rapid advancements in neuro biological research. Management of mental illnesses has moved from hospitals to communities and people with mental illness can lead a normal life and fulfil all their roles in the society and achieve self-fulfillment.
On the other hand there is an epidemic of stress related issues as individuals have trouble coping with the fast changing nature of the world as old values are thrown out, information becomes adundant and choices become critical.
